Stocks On-Line Unlimited SOLUTXT.CFG Documentation
============================================================
By : Paul J. Martino
SOLUTXT.CFG is a new addition to Stocks On-Line Unlimited.
It allows you to define 17 of your own companies. You can
easily do this by following these steps.
#1) Get out you favorite word processor that can save in
ASCII form.
#2) This is how you determine companies :
File : SOLUTXT.CFG
Line #1 : Registration Number /* Enter anything you want if
you don't have a
registration number
Line #2 : System Name /* Name of the BBS you are
running (ie. PALACE BBS)
Line #3 : Company #1 Name /* First Company's Name
/* This is the hard part
Line #4 : Numerator1 Denominator1 Range1 StocksAvailible1
/* Numerator1, Demoninator1, Range1 must be non-negative
integers (0 to 32768). StocksAvailible1 may be a floating
point varible (0 to 1.0 x 10^100).
/* This line should have 3 spaces in it ONLY! One between
each of the 4 terms. Numerator1 and Denominator1 make a
fraction that determines how often a company's price goes
up. Range1 is the amount of change that can occur in a
company's price during one turn. StocksAvailible1 is the
maximum number of shares that can be sold in that
company.
/* 1 2 10 1000000000
Would mean that there is a 50% chance of the price
raising (1/2)=0.50. The price could go up or down 1-10
dollars during one turn. 1,000,000,000 shares are
available for purchase.
/* 1 2 10 0
Means the same as the previos one, except, there is NO
stock availiblity limit.
Line #5 : Company #2 Name
Line #6 : Numerator2 Denominator2 Range2 StocksAvailible2
/* Repeat this two line definition until all 17 companies
are defined. This makes a 36 line long SOLUTXT.CFG
/* SOLUTXT.FRM is the form of the file that you may want to
use the first time you try this.
/* If you don't want to bothered to do this, SOLUTXT.SMP can
be renamed to SOLUTXT.CFG and you can use that for game
play.
SOLUCOMP.HST is the file that tells about the various
companies and describes there past business record. It is
viewed by option [H] in Stocks On-Line Unlimited. If you have
a custom made SOLUTXT.CFG, you will have to update your
SOLUCOMP.HST to be in accordance with the companies described
in your SOLUTXT.CFG and SOLU.CFG. When editing SOLUCOMP.HST,
place several hypens alone on one line to signifiy the
beginning and ending of a company history.
Once you have SOLUTXT.CFG written, you should run SOLURR.EXE
in the same directory as SOLUTXT.CFG. This reroller
(SOLURR.EXE) will read SOLUTXT.CFG and write out a file
called SOLU.CFG. It will also reroll the player file (.PLY)
the company price file (.CMP) and the message file (.MSG).
WARNING : Do not run SOLURR.EXE in the middle of game, it
will reroll all of the data files and users will
be furious.
